Catalogued items include not only individual books and articles from journals, but also the contents of important Russian serial publications on Pushkin, and also single-author and multi-author collections on Pushkin. the collection also contains the prime research editions of Pushkin, among others, and various translations in book form. Pushkin aids (e.g. Slovar' jazyka Pushkina, Pushkin: A Dictionary of Rhymes, Putevoditel' po Pushkinu) are also available. The Pushkin Collection is of works directly by or on Pushkin , not for accumulation of Pushkiniana as such, but for the purpose of making immediately available the publications directly needed for research on Pushkin's works (with somewhat lesser interest in Pushkin the person). Collection holdings are not loaned out; items my be removed only for immediate photocopying within the same building.
The Pushkin Collection is a valuable research resource, not only for students and faculty at the University of Wisconin, but for visiting scholars and also for research scholars and graduate students elsewhere.
This series publishes works of individual and joint scholarship that feature aspects of Pushkin's creative world and times. Various critical methodologies and approaches are encouraged, the primary criterion for acceptance and publication being the quality of the research, including its importance for the field of Pushkin studies, and the compelling nature of the guiding idea or argument.
The Pushkin Handbook, a collection of new studies by leading Pushkin scholars from the former Soviet Union, North America, and elsewhere, unites in one volume a multiplicity of voices engaged in a genuinely post-Soviet dialogue.
Contributors to the volume consider Pushkin in terms of his biography; his innovations in the forms of lyric, narrative poem, novel in verse, drama, and fictional prose; his thoughts on history, politics, and literature; the textual challenges of his work; and the problems of translating it. Another major focus is Pushkin's place in the literary and cultural cosmos: his relationship to his Russian predecessors and contemporaries, his responses to other European literature, his role within the traditions of Romanticism and Realism, and his reception and interpretation by readers at various points in history.
The Oxford Pushkin Seminar
The purpose of the seminar is to acquaint younger generation scholars (advanced students, graduate students, recent Ph.D. 's) with the editing principles of the new edition and to recruit potential editors / commentators for future volumes.
The co-organizers of the seminar are David Bethea (Wisconsin, Oxford), Alexander
Dolinin (Wisconsin, St. Petersburg), and Alexander Ospovat (UCLA, Moscow).

Bicentennial Conference
In 1999 The Pushkin Center hosted a major international Pushkin Bicentennial Conference at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. The Conference, open to the public, brought together Pushkin scholars and Slavists from around the world for a series of presentations on Pushkin's life and work.
